Group A of the 2010/2011 Champions League
Group A of this year’s Champions League competition looks fairly predictable from the outset but could quite easily throw up a few surprises. The first group of the 2010/2011 Champions League competition is made up of FC Twente from Holland, Werder Bremen from Germany, Tottenham Hotspur from England and reigning Champions League winners Inter Milan from Italy.
Most bookies and pundits alike are pegging Inter Milan to win this group at a canter and Tottenham to follow up closely behind them in second place. This seems quite likely given the fact that Inter Milan won the Champions League last season and Tottenham beat off Manchester City and Liverpool to secure 4th place in the Premier League, arguably the hardest football league in the world. However, it may not be as simple as that.

However, with very little movement in the transfer market the Inter Milan team has remained very similar and is an ageing squad. What's more, with the loss of their talismanic manager Jose Mourinho to Real Madrid, they no longer have that unbeatable edge they did last year and although they should get 6 points from FC Twente, Tottenham and Werder Bremen are by no means pushovers.
Tottenham Hotspur - Champions League 2010/2011
After finishing 4th in the Premier League last season and breaking up the so called big 4, Tottenham look stronger than ever. They have brought in Champions League experience and pedigree in the form of Rafael Van der Vaart and William Gallas and have a good mixture of youth and experience throughout the squad.
However, this is Tottenham Hotspur's first appearance in the Champions League and that could be quite daunting for the team and the players who are new to European football. Also Tottenham already struggled in their first leg playoff against Young Boys letting in 3 goals to bad defending. If the defence can break against Young Boys, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen may have a field day.
