Ok might as well just have ONE thread for all the problems I have been experiencing let me update those who might not know.

About three months ago I noticed my pc performing a bit slow not to badly but enough to get my attention, a few weeks went by and it got worst. So bad to the point where it sometimes took forever or it just wouldn't get to the vista account menu so I would have to shut it off by force, so the pc was reset to factory settings. It was working great again but it only lasted for so long"my diagnosis was that after vista installed its updates again was the cause".

Rinse and repeat 2 more times again computer works fine for a while then just slows down REALLY bad. I have done countless scans and find nothing I ended up taking out my graphics card just a few days ago and uninstalled the drivers because again I just thought vista could no longer handle them. Right now the computer is doing "alright" I just had to forcefully shut it off a few minutes ago because it would refuse to log into any vista account after waiting for over 30 minutes. Just did this scan and found this....

At this point I don't know what the hell to think it's just done my head in real good, it could either be that I need to upgrade to windows 7 or maybe some of my hardware has malfunctioned? I have no clue....PLEASE HELP I WANNA PLAY SKYRIM on pc"cries".

@Javi what does the log say? CBS.log c:/windows/logs/CBS/ open that and see what happened. [howto] it might tell you what is causing the problem. hardware, driver, software

also, there is an app that analyses a crashed system on reboot but i can't remember what it's called now... something like whatcrashed? dunno.

Hmmm I don't think its telling me much unless I just don't know how to read it properly?

yeah, i know what you mean by that >.< ok, hang on a sec... ok it's called who crashed not what crashed... i knew it was something crashed anyway lol

Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer

WhoCrashed reveals the drivers responsible for crashing your computer
i've used it before to find out aboot a dodgy .sys file and it worked ok i guess. it should give you something to google in it's report. the report is automatically created by using the crash log files from the operating system. in your case, vista.

before you install the software, which is free : ), maybe have a quick glance at the FAQ's and stuff to find out what is going on.

but yeah, install this and run your pc until it crashes. then reboot the pc, open whocrashed, view the report and see what it says.

mate, not saying this is going to solve anything but hopefully it might point you in the right direction.

In the CBS.log use Find to check for "cannot repair" and Find Next to find other files that could not be repaired. Write down the names of the corrupt files that could not be repaired. Then go to Repair Vista Options and follow the steps to fix your computer. You may eventually have to Access System Files on Your Vista Install DVD to copy good files to your OS to replace the corrupt files.

So @yid4eva your diagnosis is what we talked about before that it is most likely vista causing the problems? @boo thanks for the program amigo!

I thought rather than starting a new thread i might post my problems on here if thats ok @Javi ?

Ever since I have installed the latest version of iTunes when i open it, it starts to download my bought items (which i asked it to do) because I have a iPhone where i download music straight onto...

but everytime it does this it crashes and slows down my whole computer until i have to press the button to manually switch the pc of and restart it...

anyone having the same problems? (i have tried unistalling and reinstalling but it doesn't work)

      any help is grateful!

Ok here we go again! Same problems as always takes forever to start up sometimes, freezes often again sometimes, and I have performed scan after scan. So now I think it may well be a hardware problem. Don't have the money for someone to take a look at it properly at the moment so any help will be thanked.

good luck with it, my laptop gave me headaches two days ago.. i can relate to these problems.. luckily i found some solutions to fix mine after hours of searching and digging through internet..

my wlan button on laptop wasnt working.. it was always off and when i press it nothing happens and it stayed off..

i installed some drivers a day before the wlan problem.. after deinstalling those drivers, and reinstalling others everything was ok.. and as always, it was not easy to fix.. without some forums and advices, i would have done nothing really..

so maybe there is some help out there javi.. i could try to find your problems on some german forums, they love to debate about these things and are generally pretty smart and effective.. ze germans..

well there seem to be lots of slow vista computers, most of them began slowing down all of the sudden..

is your vista 32 or 62 bit?

just a silly question, did you scan for viruses and malware stuff like that..

i once had similar problems on xp, superantispyware is the free program that saved me many many times.. well at least pc was again working at a speed i was used at back then..

      You're running Vista?

      There's half your problem lol

Could be hard drive issues; Check Disk - chkdsk - Vista Forums

I'd recommend CCleaner if you aren't using it already

      somethings to try @Javi

boot your PC in safe mode. if the boot up sequence hangs on loading the 'mup.sys', it's likely that your hard drive is not able to read from it's disk.

also, defragment the drive (if it can't defreg, then again, it's the hard drive.)

check the ram. there is a microsoft ram checker that runs from CD here

if you can, remove everything from the PC leaving just the motherboard, CPU, ram, hard drive (as in, if you have additional hardware such as a graphics card, usb hub, sound card). then try booting the machine.

do a fresh install? i can send you a copy of XP Pro (not warezed). you will need the drivers for the system before you do this.
