But this one is about my desktop sometimes when I log into my user account on windows vista my monitor screen just turns a bit dark for no reason at all but the mouse arrow icon stays at its normal brightness. It has been happening the past two days never had a problem with it until now. Suggestions?

Dont suppose your monitor has an ambient light sensor ?
Or you have updated any drivers lately either via win updates or grafix card manufacture ?
