I can copy files onto a blank DVD.

Thing is, they're 4.7gigs and my software is only allowing me to copy 4.3gigs - max.

Is there a way round this?

I am currently using whatever programme is launched on Windows 7 whenever a blank DVD is inserted.

tbh I havent burned a full DVD in ages ....... I used to put films on them but now I just use zmovie and watch them online.

In fact I cannot even remember filling up a DVD ....if Im working with large files i.e games 15gig+ I just use a USB hard drive.

I had a quick google and there are comments/posts that seem to suggest there is a limit.

4.3GB is the maximum you can fit onto a DVD-R, try reducing the file size by a few hundered megs and see if it works!

The maximum storage on an 4.7gb DVD is 4.36gb. The advertisers/manufacturers use decimal, so they say gigabyte/gb means 1000 to make the customer think they're getting more for their money, but computers are binary so they use 1024. That's why there's a difference of about 500mb between the advertised capacity and the actual capacity. Double layer 8.5gb DVDs can hold about 7.96gb. Note these double layer DVD's require a double layer drive.
