Reading a lot of people who say, next to the Spanish 2, Munich is their favorite in the CL. That surprised me. Are they really that good? I don't watch much Bundesliga but I watched a few matches last year and was never real taken by them, nor was I much impressed when I saw them two years ago. I know they've been dominating the Bundesliga this year so I figured they'd improved, but have they improved to the point that they're better than United? I didn't see the City/Bayern game - did Bayern really tear them up as bad as the scoreline suggested?

Obv. they have class all over that midfield - Kroos, Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Robben When He's Healthy, etc. Plus Muller and Gomez up top... damn. But I guess I didn't realize they were that highly rated. Could Bayern defeat Barca or Madrid? Or put this way: If they played each team ten times, how many would Bayern win?

IN my humble opinion, a Bayern team with Robben and Ribery fit is overall better than Barca. With only one of the two fit, they are still the 3rd best in the world, and the only one who would have a realistic chance of beating a team from El Clasico. I mean that squad is incredible, their starting eleven makes City's look like schoolboys.

Yes, they are really that good! Schweinsteiger, Ribery, Robben, Kroos, Müller, Gomez.... Müller really impressed me this season, i always thought he is nothing special but his passing, his pace, his technique is just brilliant. Kroos is also getting better and better, they dominate every opponent even without Robben. And Ribery has never been this good! Jupp Heynckes really did a great job this year. I´m really impressed by them.

They Made City look like QPR and not just for 45minutes either. They totally owned them.
I wasn't expecting them to be so good myself but they are def a class team with alot of talent in every position and play really nice football.
Good enough to beat Barca/Madrid?? No idea but it'll be some game

especially this season Rev. They are better than 2 seasons ago when they reached the final. Napoli´s defense looked like a bunch of amateurs in the first half. Second hald Bayern let them play. But they may be in trouble now that Schweinsteiger is injured.

their defence is still weak point
and Robben in recent time is more a player from paper-list, than actual football star due to his long-term injuries (that's really sad as he is top-class)

I doubt they can do anything against Barca/Real but hope so...

They didn´t concede a goal for more than 10 games in a row this season, i wouldn´t say their defense is weak.

firstly, I didn't say their defence is WEAK. I said: weak point (means their worst line in comparison with midfield, attack and keeper's position)
secondly, bundesliga is not the ultimate rate. Badstuber still looks unconfident and Boateng sometimes fails with defending options during fast counter-attacks. Their substitute defensive reserves also look doubtful.

Their defense is the weak point because the midfield and striker(s) are sooo good lol. Coupled with a brilliant goalkeeper is part of the reason why they are so dominate and never really concede goals. They made arguably the best team in england look like dog crap on toast and i'd imagine they would do that with any team from the prem. Luis Gustavo and Schweinsteiger ahead of the defense is really effective, they're both great on the ball and i'd say Mr Schweinsteiger ahead of Parker any day of the week, probably the best DM in the world. As people have said, Ribery is only getting better and better and like BlueCrew said ( i think ), Gomez isn't fantastic but he's the perfect striker for that team. With lots of service from great players, a poacher like Gomez can thrive.
      i love sarf london me

They did look very good at times last night. I will ask one thing though, is Ribery as good as they reckon? Any time I see him he doesn't seem that good. Spent a lot of time on the turf.

He has his moments, but disappears far too often for me.

I think this Bayern team is as good as any they've had in a long time, but while it's hard to point to defensive frailty when a team has conceded so few goals, I think what most people mean by that is that they don't have the kinds of players to set up to beat Barca or Madrid by shutting them down over two legs.

United look like shit, and have many weak links: a CB, a playmaker, and even another striker at times... City don't have the togetherness experience for the CL, and Chelsea suck. As for Bayern, they are real contenders, and probably 3rd best this year, but their defense is a real con. Van Buyten doesn't do it for me, any Barca midfielder and attacker would make a joke out of him. I'm also in question about Boateng, he doesn't offer anything towards attacks, and although generally very solid on defense, makes the odd big mistake.

Real better hope Messi is out injured for whenever they face each other in the eliminatory rounds, or it's theirs again this year.

I questioned that to myself as well a couple months ago. Then I took a look at his stats, was completely blown away... And I'm usually one to not care so much about stats.
