Arsenal captain Robin van Persie 'elbowed' Carlos Cuellar, says Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish
Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has accused Robin van Persie of using an elbow against Carlos Cuellar and feels the Football Association should view replays of the incident.
McLeish was angry that the Arsenal captain was allowed to stay on the field and believes referee Michael Jones should have taken much stronger action.
The incident happened just after Van Persie had scored his second goal from the penalty spot to help Arsenal stage a remarkable comeback in a dramatic FA Cup fifth round tie at Emirates Stadium.
McLeish said: “I thought it was an elbow in the face, a clear elbow but the referee didn’t seem to think it was anything. I thought he hit him. I thought he put an elbow towards his face. He is not a guy to lie down and would get up quickly.
“Would I like them [The FA] to look at it – if it was an elbow in the face – then yes. It is dangerous and I don’t like to point fingers at players but it has happened to me enough times. I never mentioned it to the referee. I saw it in real time and it looked like a gesture.”
I've heard that the FA are looking into it today, that could end up as a four-game ban, that stubborn clown Wenger will probably appeal, that's a 6 game ban for Van Persie, OUCH.
Any sympathy..? Nahhhhhhhh!

I very much doubt anything will come of this after what Lescott got away with. Then again Van Persie isn't English, so unlike Crouch and Lescott perhaps he will get done.
If justice is done the scum won't score for the next 3 games. Guilty as sin, he looked to make sure where he was, absolute filth, but what do you expect from woolwich tbh.
The last few weeks really have shown that a massive change needs to occur in the officiating of the game, to catch things like this, Ballotelli and Lescott.
IF the FA do impose a ban (spineless pussies so unlikely) then Ahole would not DARE appeal it would he? - The ban would probably be increased to 4 and not start until the Blackburn game . Just look at their next 5 games:
1) 01-01-2012 Bolton
2) 04-02-2012 Blackburn Rovers
3) 11-02-2012 Sunderland
4) 18/9-02/2011 Sunderland/Middlesborough
5) 26-02-2011 The Mighty Spurs!
It would a major frimpong if Ahole appealed any rightful ban - oh please, it would be soooo funny!

Arsenal without V Persie would be like sushi without fish. There wouldnt be anything to them. Non existant. Id soooooooooooooo love this to happen. I cant remember any team being so reliant on any 1 player

Did RVP elbow Cuellar? | Football Video and Audio | ESPN.co.uk is video of the incident for anyone interested.
It wasn't the most vicious of elbows, but he knew exactly where the other player was and where his elbow would go, so I would have to say it looks intentional.
I would absolutely love to see him sit out a stretch of games.
If he still gets banned, they've still got the mighty Arshavin.

I cant see them doing anything with this, however much I hope they do in a way.
But, wouldn't it only be a 3 game ban? Cant see how he would miss our game anyway, appeal would have to be lodged before they play Bolton on Weds (I think).
A better scenario for us maybe if he doesnt get done for this and picks up and injury/suspension in the coming weeks before Spurs game, otherwise he will be playing us fresh as a daisy with a 3 game sit out.
With or without him we are far superior![]()
The cheating coonts always get away with this. I hate to bring it back up but I'm sure @thfcire remembers Eduardo against Celtic?
UEFA rightfully suspended him, then when Arsenal appealed they won the appeal?!?!

After watching that video, I doubt he would be banned, it doesn't look nice, but it's not an uncommon sight to see footballers elbowing each other out of the way. I doubt you could prove he wanted to make contact with his face.
I am certainly not against him getting a ban though!
