Looking through a thread on another site I had a brainwave (rare perhaps). Given the number of fans on here who don't live in the UK I'm very curious as to how well known our beloved THFC is where you reside. Do you meet up with fellow Yids? Or do you fight a losing battle in your local bar with the plastic fans from the likes of Manure, the Chavs, Scum and so on? Or is it a mixture of the two? I'm very interested in your responses.
P.S. People who live north of Watford can also reply in here.![]()

There are multiple Spurs groups/organizations in the US. Many are filled with ex-pats and good amount of Americans
The biggest groups I can name off the top of my head are
NYSpurs, LASpurs, DC Spurs, Chicago Spurs (all of these groups have specific pubs where they gather to watch all the games)
Typically, whenever I go into the pub to watch a game (depending on who is playing that day) there is always a contingent of Gooners/Chavs/Yanited/Liverpool fans with a few Citeh fans sprinkled in. Most of them are your typical glory hunters but then you run into a few who know a good amount the club or ex-pats who actually know how to have a bit of banter without taking it too personally its a decent atmosphere. I will say that over the last 7 or 8 years the popularity of the club has really grown in the US.

Steven Caulker is the messiah!
FWIW, my two stepsons in the States are die hard Colts fans. One is slowly coming around to the idea of THFC being the greatest thing since sliced bread - on this side of the Atlantic at least. However, he is hardcore Colts to the extent he will go to all the home games. Quite frankly you'd have to be hardcore to go to all the home games this season.I tease him all the time by referring to them as Baltimore still.
The other is less hardcore and less interested in THFC. But he lives in California so he can be excused because he lives inside a giant Prozac pill.![]()

My brother and I have long been Spurs supporters, but for a long time that was it. Now my six-year old son (who as a three-year old announced his love for Chelsea) is a fully-converted fan, so we watch the games together at home, like my dad and I did (and still do on occasion). Much easier now with Fox Soccer Channel, etc. Many larger cities than the one I live in have bars that show PL matches, and just about all of the major metropolitan areas have Spurs bars, but I have to watch them in the privacy of my own home.
The game is exponentially more popular here than it was when I was a boy, when I and other people who watched football were considered threats to national security, but I still can't go anywhere to watch a game. I can't speak for others, but the reason I enjoy the forum so much is that I have no other real outlet for talking about Spurs or even football in general. I think a lot of Americans flock to these sites for that reason.
It's strange, in the span of 15 years, I've gone from watching matches that were tape delayed by a week sometimes or shelling out 25 dollars for pay-per-view every weekend to watching games on HD, hopping in the car and listening to TalkShite on the satellite radio, reading all the papers online, and of course talking with you lot. But ultimately, being a football fan over here, and especially a fan of a non Sky 4 team, is something most do in isolation.
Sadly here in the Philippines, I'm the only Spurs fan I know of. Sad isn't it? If I find a fellow Yid, I'll be the one pioneering the very fist Tottenham Hotspur supporters club in the Philippines.
Most of the people here support the former big four of the Premier League (United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea) and both Spanish giants, Madrid and Barca but I think the football fans here are not glory hunters because the sport is not very popular here (we're a basketball country). So if you find a football fan, he/she will probably be a true football supporter.
I know I am, I'm sure I am. I'm Tottenham TILL I DIE.
LA Spurs are pretty active. A good number of Galaxy fans are Spurs fans in fact, getting Keane was big for the them.
Not a bad site either

I wish the Spurs would ditch the 'Quakes and partner with the Galaxy. Actually in the future when the academies get up to standard you're far more likely to find talent via a partner in Southern California then Nor Cal, the Galaxy already have some of the best facilities. Nor Cal has been producing some good talent lately though Seb Lletget and Marc Pelosi among others.
As for local support I have met some Spurs fans living in Vegas. When I go watch a match at the Red Rock sometimes you'll see a couple. Obviously the clubs with the most bandwagon potential are prominent and annoying Chelsea, Arsenal, United, Liverpool etc.
Spurs are not known here tbh.
United
Chelsea
Liverpool
in that order
Manure did their IPO in Singapore for a reason.
It's almost entirely red here, mancs, dippers and scum. Some glory hunting blues and sky blues.
There are a few Tottenham fans in Texas but were spread thin in the loosing battle against victory bandwagon fans. In Monterrey, Mexico chances are one in a trillion that you would find someone who supported or even knew about the club before Gio came along.
Leader of the Spurtles.
I'm sure there are some Spurs fans in Saint Louis, I've heard rumors from a few friends that they were at the local Arsenal/Ajax fans pub on the day of the most recent derby. Maybe I'm not alone like I assumed, but at the moment its just me. Doing my best to convert my little brother, who frankly cares a lot more about baseball and basketball.
My family are almost to a man current or former players at a number of levels, and we all grew up watching soccer/football. Saint Louis is pretty friendly to the sport and has a lot of history with it. A number of the 1950 USA squad that beat England were St. Louisans, I'm proud to say. But not much on the Spurs front. I'll be in London soon studying (hopefully...) so maybe by the time I'm forced to return home there'll be a fan club full of plastics for me to watch games with haha.
In Nebraska it's hard enough to find any soccer fans, period. It's all American football here. But there are a couple good pubs in town (one of which is the hub of American Outlaws, one of the biggest national team supporter groups) but they never show Spurs games. It's always United, Liverpool or Arsenal. Have only met one Chelsea fan and one City fan, but lots of United and Liverpool supporters. Not many Gooners, but enough...
Mostly the same over here in Melbourne as well. Mainly glory hunters following the big four, lately I have seen several city tops being worn around places as well. Most of my friends here are Chelsea, pool and arse supporters, one is a Blackburn fan lol and also have a friend who supports villa. I do come across several spurs supporters here and there but we are easily out numbered. When I went to watch the spurs v pool game at the start of the season, there was me and one other spurs supporter wearing a spurs top compared to about 25 or so pool supporters, then there were a couple of manure supporters getting stuck into the pool fans as well lol. Even on the tv here, Spurs hardly get a mention when we play, only when there is a whole bunch of fixtures they may show the highlight of one goal.
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
I live in Vancouver and we have a bar that specifically plays all the spurs games, the manager even went as far as to order a special box so we could watch the europa games and opens the doors for us at 7am for the weekend games and they give us a 20% discount on food! Normally there are only about 5-10 of us that show up, except for the big games where we get a much bigger turnout, i think there are about 20 fellow spurs fans who show up on and off.

South Africa is generally more of the same. Whilst there's a healthy number of Spurs supporters, it's nowhere close to the United/Chelski/Arse numbers. The involvement of the club in SA, along with the tours obviously have helped - but we've a long way to go.

If u see an arsenal fan walking a dog. Get them 2 call 0800 4-0 4-1 4-2 4-3 4-4 for free advice on how to hold onto a lead.
Everyone at my school are plastic fans. I have 3 friends who "like tottenham" but they only like them because "they're fun to use on FIFA". Everyone else likes the "big name" teams, and are shocked about Tottenhams existence in the title challenge. I consistently argue with them about how good we really are, and they have no clue about anything soccer related. Granted, there are a ton of people here who know of Tottenham and their prowess, but they dont support Spurs haha.
I went into my local sub shop and asked for the most expensive sub they had. They gave me the Andy Carroll.
