Fooking hilarious, how they ever thought HE was the answer is laughable. Went for the same money as Ashley Young, even though Young is in a different league to Downing and always has been.

What's deeply scary for me though is that we had an interest in Downing for quite a while (reportedly) and missed out on getting Adam by two minutes. So that's 50percent of the shower of shite that passes for the Bindippers' midfield nowadays. Talk about dodging bullets.

Carroll - done very little £35M
Adam - overrated £10M
Surez - still not proved wis worth £25M

So that's £90M spent for very little return.

I had something at The Run of Play recently that talked about the spending issue. Surprising stats: Spurs and United have spent around the same on transfers in the past five years and Liverpool has spent more than Chelsea. Telling stat: If you take away Comolli spending from Liverpool, they're about where United is and if you take away Comolli spending from Spurs, we're at Arsenal levels. Moral of the story: Damion Comolli is what happens if an NBA general manager runs a Premiership club.

Aquilani was poor when he played for them. Too injury prone for the epl imo

Here's another fun fact....

Torres has scored more goals for Liverpool (4) in 2011 than for Chelsea (3)

and....

Demba Ba who cost nothing has scored the same number of goals in 2011 (21) as suarez, torres & Carroll combined (cost £110m)

Slight over reaction on here to their signings but they definetly overpaid on Downing and Henderson and massively on Carroll. Suarez has looked goot to be honest except for being a complete c00nt. Their main problem is their new signings are keeping the reliable goalscorers in their squad of Maxi, Kuyt and Bellamy out of the team and probably led to Meireles leaving, they're creating quite a few chances but now have nobody in the team to finish them now.

The funniest thing is that Liverpool fans were swearing blind that all the signings fitted in with the Sabermetrics approach that the new owners and Comolli had brought to the club, how they thought Carroll at £35m fitted in to this I have no idea.

They really should be playing with a midfield/attacking formation something like this but obviously King Kenny knows best.
