Hey all, being English meant that i have only in the last few years come to terms with the monumental occasion which happens once a year that is the superbowl. For those who are Big NFL fans i am sorry for all the times in my life i have said i was a skill-less version of Rugby, i now realise the error of my ways and understand the sport to eclipse rubgy on so many levels. For those who dont take much of an interest in American Football i would highly recommend watching the superbowl, (watched my team the Patriots lose it in 2008 [2007 season] and have been ever interested since. The celebrations of the winners of the superbowl make the event seem greater than anything that can be achieved in football unfortunatly.
So back on topic:
On Febuary 7th the superbowl will take place to see who will be the NFL champions for the 2009 Season, AFC champions Indianapolis Colts face NFC champions New Orleans Saints.
Just wanna use this thread to see what people think the outcome will be and just for any discussion about the game.
Enjoy the game
Enfield.
trust me as someone who lives in the US i find the NFL as manufactored drama now. this constant stopping and starting with actual game time where they aren't standing around doing nothing is completely insane. I am a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and have been lucky enough to see them win twice since i been alive. however i have gotten way more into soccer (football for all you non-americans) and hockey. NHL is great but international hockey that is on during olympics (when using international size ice) is great. the great thing about hockey that i love over NFL is that you are held accountable for what you did. you cannot just check someone ruthlessly into the boards without knowing that you will get a return of it. maybe not that game but soon. In regards to NFL the defensive players know they are never going to be in a situation to be hit like the recievers so they just dive like missiles at them.
however back on topic, if i had to pick a team i would like New Orleans to win so that maybe it can help that city turn around. completely amazing at the number of US citizens (and not wanting to turn this into a political mess) want that city to just fall into the lake as opposed to levee and dike it like Netherlands do. That city with so much culture and history deserves protection just like any other city and i believe with a SB win then that will help them move more and more back to the way they were. plus with mardi gras coming up and i now have tuesday-thrusday off i may go down for it and a SB win on top of that would make that place off the hook!! \(^^\)(/^^)/

New Orleans will win the superbowl. Been watching them alot over the playoffs and I really like what I see.
I too am a Steelers fan, and have been since I was about 5. Considering we won the super bowl for the 2008 season, I was pretty annoyed we didnt even make the player-offs. I think we won 4 of our first 5 games but then dropped 5 in a row or something, and Big Ben missed a few with injury. Made a late rally, but fell short of making the play offs.

Titans fan here. I think/hope the Saints will win. Williams has given their blitz-heavy defence a taste of blood with the battering they gave Farve. I'd love to see them do the same to Manning.

As disgusted as I am to say it I am a lifelong Lions fan (uggg....). I think it's going to be the Colts in one of the best Super Bowls we've seen in awhile. I really like what Brees brings to the table as both a passer and a leader. However, nobody is better than Peyton. Having the best player counts for a lot. Gotta roll with Indy

I am just glad the Vikings lost if I have to pick a winner I have to say New Orleans but as steel said it's just one big soap opera now the times when the sport could actually be respected with players like Bubba Smith,Hacksaw Reynolds, and Terry Bradshaw are gone these men were naturally barbarians in the field and now the NFL is a big steriod fest. They should really stop calling it the superbowl and call it the commercial bowl since that is what you will mostly see.
New Orleans will probably take this one but tbh I just want to see the weird commercials......"three squirrels commit suicide....BUY EGO WAFFLES!"
want the saints to win they seem like the underdog?
dont even know the rules , seems like an odd sport.
The Robin Hood film trailer was worth watching the superbowl.
17-13 to the colts with 6 minutes remaining in the third.
Come on Saints.
Brilliant game, that hands down got me into NFL.

That onside kick to start the second half. Gutsy gutsy gutsy.
Congratulations Saints!
NFL and NHL's Setup will ALWAYS be superior to the premier league , the trading system they have at the end of the season is brilliant, the worse you've performed in the league they give you the chance to improve your team the most by giving you the first few drafts and the teams who've walked the league get their drafts later.
Making it an even playing field is brilliant, something the premier league will never agree to due to the sky 4.
Funny thing is, whenever I describe the promotion/relegation system to people over here, they think its the greatest thing in the world.
NFL kinda rewards mediocrity imo- your schedule is also made out based on how you did the last year. So the Saints and the Colts will have two of the most difficult schedules next season.
I've never been much of a fan, nothing against it mind you, just not something I can be passionate about like soccer/football. Only other sport that really gets me going is college basketball-you want to see crazy, watch the NCAA tournament in March.
The passion in college basketball arenas is the closest thing we have over here to what you have in football grounds, I think.
