A comfortable victory and a scoreline that should see us progress to the group stages of the UEFA Cup for the second season running. In truth, the result owed much to a spell of five minutes late in the first half where we bagged three goals, while the scoreline owed much to the sublime finishing of Jermain Defoe.

Ahead of the game there were murmurings of how we had to win the game for Martin Jol to keep his job. Boring. Heard it all before. The fact that Mourinho had left Chelsea earlier in the day added a little extra interest, although quite what basis anybody would have for speculating that he would join Spurs ...

Sad but true - in recent seasons we have had a habit of taking the lead against the Gooners and throwing it away. Yet again, we have managed to repeat this feat. Unfortunately, today's scoreline is a touch more embarrassing than those of recent seasons (leave aside the 3-0 defeat at The Emirates last season), and under the intense media scrutiny, probably the last thing we needed.

The early kick-off played havoc with making it to the ground on time. Ten minutes in when we arrived, the stadium bathed in sunshine - an absolute scorcher.

Not long afterwards we won a free-kick and despite it having been on the side more favoured for a right footer, Bale got it up and ...

Tottenham's £40million strike force could not find a way past Everton at White
Hart Lane as David Moyes's men stormed to the top of the Premier League.

Spurs boss Martin Jol had Darren Bent, Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane in his starting XI and brought Jermain Defoe off the bench, but it was his problems at the back that were exposed by the clinical visitors.

Oh dear. Not quite the start to the season any of us was after. An injury time defeat to newly promoted Sunderland, who, if I remember rightly, took until the penultimate game of the season last time they were in the top flight to win at home?

It was, frankly, not a performance that deserved a victory - for either side. But fair play to Sunderland, they kept at it, and while I'd disagree with Roy Keane's view that it was a worthy victory, I won't begrudge them it. Probably more to do with the fact that one of my best mate's is a Mackem! ...

As you may have seen TottenhamHotspurs.tv has made some big steps over the last month to improve the site for the future, We've added many new features which i will list below in an effort to make every one aware of what we offer. We would love some comments in the forum on how you think we are doing and how we can make it better.

So with Martin Jol staying at the helm and hopefully in my views that Levy doesn’t sell the club to an American influence, the club is once again on the up, i think we can all say after the last 2 seasons we are getting better and better, with great ambitions to finish in the top 4 for season 07/08.

I am so proud of us after that gut-busting performance against Arsenal - we dug deep in the trenches to lay the bogy, and enhance our chances for that coveted 4th spot.
Another massive test is about to take place, in the form of Chelsea, but beating the Old Enemy has done us absolutely no harm at all!
Gomes, King and Dawson were magnificent, and were amply aided by every other player on the night.
The exocet that was débutante Rose's goal got us off to the perfect start and, despite Arsenal's domination of the ball, we snuffed them out where it really mattered and, when it came to the crunch, Gomes was found putting on a brave and classy face.
